Begun by D.W. (David) Onan in 1920, Onan has been a leader and pioneer in power generation equipment for more than 80 years and engines for 50 years. A lot of years have passed and a lot has changed since the first Onan generator sets entered the market - the products, technology, marketplace and of course, the company. In 1986, Onan Corporation became a fully owned subsidiary of the Cummins Engine Company (now Cummins Inc.), the world's largest designer and manufacturer of diesel engines ranging from 55- to 2,700-horsepower for on-highway vehicles, industrial equipment, and power generation. During our history, the Onan branded product lines have expanded, while still being known as solid, innovative and hard working.

Cummins Onan products include RV generators for motorhomes and trailers, Marine generators for boats and yachts, Commercial generators for fire & rescue, utility and specialty vehicles, Residential generators for home standby power, and Portable generators for the home, campground and work site.

Cummins Power Generation, a subsidiary of Cummins Inc., is a Minneapolis, Minnesota-based manufacturer and world leader in the design and manufacture of Cummins Power Generation and Cummins Onan branded power generation products. Cummins Onan branded products are used in recreational vehicle, marine, commercial mobile, home standby and portable applications. Cummins Power Generation products include power systems and related accessories, components and services including diesel and gas generator sets, transfer switches and switchgear used in commercial facilities for emergency back-up and prime power.
